Larry NiponLarry Nipon’s unusual combination of experience in sales, technology, management, business strategy and analysis prepared him to develop the system he employed at his own companies and now offers to others through Zer0frixion. Skills acquired over his 35-year career include organizational structure and compensation, team building and team management, product positioning, pricing models, sales training and coaching and supporting sales systems.

As Principal, President and COO at Albert Nipon, he evolved the U.S. based women’s designer brand into a $500 million multi-category international retail presence. The sale of the company and Larry’s passion for technology led him to shift focus into the technology arena.

Took Four Early-Stage Companies to Funding or Exit

That led to management and equity positions in four early-stage technology services companies. He played a critical role in steering all four companies to either significant funding or exit events.

First, as Vice President, Sales, at eCal, a higher education technology company, Larry was responsible for a large dot-com client acquisition, as well as best practices for driving user adoption and awareness.

As President, Americas, for Worth Global Style Network (WGSN), “the fashion industry bible” providing trend forecasting, market research and data for retailers, manufacturers and designers, Larry:

  • Steered the company to a 7X revenue multiple acquisition (Oct. 2005 – $260 million)
  • Moved the territory from 18% of corporate revenue to 38% of corporate revenue in the first year
  • Tripled the number of client companies, resulting in a 10X increase in revenue value in 5 years
  • Restructured the pricing model globally
  • Designed and implemented a worldwide CRM sales system
  • Made major contributions in product strategy and function enhancement
  • Created customer management best practices, resulting in a 96% client renewal rate

As President of WGSN, the fashion and design industry’s premier trend forecasting service and technology tool provider, Larry led the team that delivered a suite of applications providing analytical tools available through a subscription model.

As Chief Revenue Officer for Stylus Media Group, Larry led the launch team for a Web 2.0 subscription service providing design and inspiration resources for more than 20 consumer industries.

Consulted on Corporate Strategy and Workouts

In the three years before launching Zer0frixion, Larry took on a variety of management consulting engagements as a corporate strategy and workout specialist. These engagements involved corporate management and oversight; sales and customer support team management; contract negotiation; formulation of value proposition and presentation; sales training and coaching; sales system development, build out and deployment; proprietary business planning; and quantitative pipeline management and forecasting.
